About the position

The Middle-Level Science Teacher at Edwards Middle School is responsible for delivering high-quality science education to students, ensuring compliance with district policies and state regulations. The role involves planning and implementing effective instructional strategies, monitoring student progress, and fostering a safe and engaging learning environment. The position requires collaboration with students, parents, and faculty, and includes after-school responsibilities to support student achievement.

Responsibilities

• Plan and develop effective strategies to increase student achievement by addressing individual learning differences.
• Maintain an awareness of best practices and current research on instruction and instructional technology.
• Use data to gauge student progress and guide instruction.
• Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and the community.
• Provide a safe, student-centered environment that is educationally stimulating and respectful.
• Advocate a professional manner and participate in professional development opportunities.
• Prepare instructional objectives for lessons considering individual student IEP goals.
• Manage classroom time effectively to ensure success in goals.
• Assist with discipline procedures for student behavior.
• Maintain individual records for each student.

Requirements

• SC Certification in Middle Level or Secondary Science.
• Ability to pass the Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) requirements.
• Good physical and mental health.
• Ability to handle unforeseen situations in accordance with policy.
