About the position

The Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) position is a part-time role focused on supporting dentists during various dental procedures while ensuring patient comfort and safety. The ideal candidate will perform expanded duties, maintain a clean work environment, and assist in educating patients about oral hygiene practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist the dentist with a variety of dental procedures, including fillings, crowns, bridges, and oral surgery/implant placement.
• Perform expanded duties, such as coronal polishing, placing sealants, taking impressions, and fabricating temporary crowns.
• Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and maintain an organized and clean work environment.
• Take radiographs and ensure proper patient records are kept up-to-date.
• Educate patients on post-treatment care and oral hygiene practices.
• Provide chair-side assistance and support during procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
• Maintain inventory of dental supplies and materials.

Requirements

• Valid EFDA Certification from an accredited program.
• Current CPR and Radiology Certification.
• Previous experience as a Dental Assistant, with at least 2 years of experience preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with digital radiography and dental software.
• Knowledge of infection control protocols and OSHA regulations.
