About the position
The EHR Business Systems Analyst position at Correctional Health Services is designed to support the implementation of a new Electronic Health Records (EHR) software system. This role is crucial for analyzing business processes, gathering requirements, and translating them into functional specifications to ensure successful EHR system implementation. The analyst will also assist in developing reports, providing training, facilitating upgrades, and planning for process improvements to meet the department's functional needs.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including department leaders, clinicians, administrators, and IT staff, to identify business needs and requirements for the EHR software implementation.
- Conduct a thorough analysis of existing business processes and workflows to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
- Gather and document detailed business and functional requirements, ensuring clarity, completeness, and feasibility.
- Work closely with the Project Manager and technical teams to translate requirements into functional specifications, system design, and configuration.
- Collaborate with vendors and software developers to ensure that system design and functionality align with business requirements.
- Conduct system testing, including developing test cases, executing tests, and documenting results to ensure the system meets defined requirements.
- Support user acceptance testing (UAT) by coordinating with end-users, capturing feedback, and facilitating issue resolution.
- Provide guidance and support to end-users during the training and adoption phase of the EHR software implementation.
- Collaborate with the project team to develop and deliver training materials and user documentation.
- Participate in change management activities, including communication and stakeholder engagement, to ensure a smooth transition and user adoption of the new EHR system.
Requirements
- One year of related experience as an IT Business Systems Analyst or related role.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Informatics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis.
Nice-to-haves
- Strong understanding of healthcare operations, processes, and clinical workflows.
- Proficient in gathering and documenting business requirements and translating them into functional specifications.
- Experience in system analysis, design, configuration, and testing.
- Knowledge of EHR systems and healthcare data standards (e.g., HL7, CDA, ICD-10) is highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
