About the position

The EHS Coordinator at Perfetti Van Melle is responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations within the manufacturing facility. This role involves promoting a culture of safety, conducting audits, maintaining records, and collaborating with various departments to enhance site performance and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Foster a culture of active engagement in safe work practices.
  • Evaluate EHS programs and site conditions to recommend improvements in site performance.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of all site environmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with environmental regulations, including waste management, spill prevention, and air and water quality standards.
  • Support site ISO 14001 and 45001 certification.
  • Conduct audits and inspections, ensure proper documentation and address any non-compliance issues.
  • Lead & support investigations of incidents in coordination with site leadership.
  • Manage facility waste streams and disposal practices, keeping accurate records and reporting to regulatory agencies.
  • Support environmental training for employees on topics such as spill response and waste management procedures.
  • Analyze environmental data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
  • Respond to environmental & safety incidents, investigate root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Stay updated on changes in environmental regulations and communicate updates to site leadership.
  • Assist with health and safety programs where environmental considerations overlap.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in manufacturing or a related industry; a combination of education and experience is acceptable.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of industrial hygiene, occupational health hazards, fire codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Experience in coordinating EHS sustainability activities within a manufacturing setting.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, DOT, and EPA regulations with practical workplace application.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage and educate diverse audiences.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, maintaining professionalism while building effective cross-team relationships.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite and other Windows-based applications.
  • Proficient in delivering training sessions, conducting presentations, and interpreting regulatory guidelines.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred.
