About the position

The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Engineer at 3M in Springfield, Missouri, plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations. This position involves coordinating EHS compliance objectives, developing annual EHS plans, and implementing continual improvement activities to enhance safety methods and processes within the facility. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong team skills and interpersonal abilities, contributing to a culture of safety and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the coordination and completion of site Environmental, Health and Safety compliance objectives.
  • Develop and complete the annual EHS plan and continual improvement objectives.
  • Provide technical expertise on Environmental and Safety Compliance efforts, including Safety and Injury prevention, Incident Investigation, and Process Safety Management.
  • Represent the site during audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Develop documentation on plant systems to comply with 3M requirements and improve existing programs.
  • Provide EHS support in the design and installation of new or modified equipment.
  • Assist in meeting departmental Lean Six Sigma targets and lead EHS projects.
  • Investigate workplace incidents and conduct root cause analyses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Environmental Health and Safety, or Science from an accredited institution.
  • One year of experience working in a manufacturing facility with Process Safety Management processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Three years of experience in an Environmental Health and Safety role within a manufacturing/production environment.
  • Experience with PSM/PHM/DHM covered processes.
  • Certifications such as Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong prioritization and organization skills.
