About the position

The EHS Manager at Southwire Company is responsible for providing safety leadership and developing best-in-class environmental, health, and safety (EH&S) strategies, programs, and processes. This role aims to ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements while minimizing EH&S risks to employees, the environment, and the communities in which the company operates. The EHS Manager will lead initiatives to foster a culture of safety and health, conduct training, and oversee incident investigations and audits.

Responsibilities

  • Create synergy and lead the Environmental Safety & Health and OPS culture at the site.
  • Develop and monitor effective EHS management strategies and provide recommendations on regulatory compliance.
  • Develop, implement, and communicate policies, programs, procedures, and initiatives impacting employee safety and well-being.
  • Perform worksite assessments to evaluate risks and potential hazards, and prepare emergency response plans.
  • Audit and monitor activities to ensure compliance with safety and health regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the investigation of incidents, injuries, and unsafe working conditions, interfacing with workers compensation claims.
  • Lead the incident reporting process and maintain records related to workplace issues and incidents.
  • Provide direction to achieve zero recordable incidents through various safety interventions and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Conduct monthly and annual training for employees on environmental, safety, and health compliance matters.
  • Partner with operation leaders to ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety or related field.
  • 14 years of experience in a safety role within construction, manufacturing, installation, or related environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with SAP; Advaris is a plus.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities along with outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and shifts.
  • Must be able to work in environments with exposure to heat/cold conditions and various industrial liquids, oils, gases, etc.
  • Professional certification in safety preferred.
