The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist at Gibson Brands Inc. plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and compliance of the Nashville Custom Shop and warehousing operations. Reporting directly to the Environmental Health and Safety Manager, this position is responsible for overseeing all environmental, health, and safety programs within the facility. The EHS Specialist will focus on regulatory compliance, program development, report generation, and the management of air emissions, waste reduction, and disposal. This hands-on role requires a deep understanding of current policies and regulations, as well as the ability to influence and guide team members in a fast-paced environment. The EHS Specialist will maintain and apply knowledge of relevant policies and regulations, recommending process improvements to mitigate risks associated with chemical and physical work hazards. Regular inspections of facilities, machinery, and safety equipment will be conducted to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards. The role also involves supporting investigations of incidents, including first aid and near misses, to determine root causes and implement preventive measures. The EHS Specialist will review change management processes for new machinery or equipment to ensure all safety requirements are met and will assist with injury management by maintaining the OSHA 300 log. In addition to these responsibilities, the EHS Specialist will facilitate the implementation of ISO 45001 standards, maintain required EPA compliance, and review safety programs to assess their adequacy. This includes implementing safety training programs on various topics such as lockout/tagout, hazard communication, and respiratory protection. Participation in weekly EHS Leader meetings to review company-wide incidents and best practices is also a key aspect of this role. The EHS Specialist will manage the Early Symptom Intervention program and assist in developing standardized job hazard analyses, executing annual objectives and KPIs, and establishing necessary operating policies. The position may also require performing other reasonable duties within the area of expertise as needed.
