About the position

The EHS Specialist at Utilimaster, a Shyft Brand, is responsible for ensuring the health and safety of employees, customers, and the community at the Landisville, PA facility. This role involves developing and maintaining effective Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) processes, implementing risk reduction strategies, and managing compliance programs across two manufacturing plants. The specialist will also oversee safety training, conduct inspections, and facilitate projects aimed at minimizing risks and promoting sustainable practices.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and mitigate potential EHS risks through implementing EHS management systems.
  • Manage health, safety, and environmental compliance programs, including hazardous waste management and air emissions permits.
  • Direct and coordinate EHS training for employees to ensure compliance and understanding.
  • Guide and direct business units toward compliance with all environmental regulations and policies.
  • Facilitate projects that lead to reductions in accidents, energy, water usage, and waste minimization.
  • Ensure the timely submittal of required health, environmental, and safety regulatory reports.
  • Conduct EHS inspections and audits throughout the entire manufacturing facility.
  • Identify existing or potential hazards and determine corrective and preventive measures.
  • Assist with incident investigations and problem-solving activities.
  • Administer initial Workers' Compensation functions.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local OSHA regulations, safety codes, and environmental quality regulations.
  • Conduct job safety risk assessments (JSAs) and environmental risk assessments.
  • Coordinate environmental waste disposal schedule and maintain the waste manifest records.
  • Manage the Medical First Responders Team and participate on the HazMat team.
  • Maintain and manage DOT and CDL driver files, medical physical cards, and required and completed training.

Requirements

  • Associates degree required.
  • 4+ years of related EHS experience in manufacturing.
  • Completed training in hazardous material accumulation, recycling, container management, and spill response, and willing to attend a refresher course annually.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
  • Willing and able to travel approximately 25% of the time.
