About the position

The EHS Specialist will be responsible for executing health, safety, environmental, and sustainability initiatives for an agricultural and greenhouse manufacturer in the Chicago area. This role involves implementing HSE programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory and company requirements, delivering training, and supporting manufacturing activities at multiple sites.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical EHS/HSE resource for site management team.
• Support site management to further HSE goals and objectives.
• Conduct and manage EHS/HSE Audit and Inspection program(s).
• Manage compliance recordkeeping and reporting (e.g., OSHA logs).
• Conduct ongoing data analysis to identify HSE risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Manage HSE training program(s) including content development and delivery.
• Direct and lead the HSE committees at the manufacturing facilities.
• Manage Incident Reporting and Investigation Program.
• Conduct HSE hazard and risk assessments.
• Support the implementation of management systems such as OSHA Process Safety Management and ISO14001.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline/study.
• At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment leading HSE compliance activities.
• Strong communication skills, both in person and electronically.
• Experience with Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Chemical Engineering, Biology, or Chemistry.

Nice-to-haves

• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
• Experience in managing HSE training programs.
