About the position

The EHS Technician at Hubbell Power Systems plays a crucial role in supporting the Environmental Health & Safety Manager in developing and implementing safety plans and policies. This position focuses on preventing employee injuries and environmental defects while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. The technician will work collaboratively across various levels of the organization to promote EHS standards and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and document various safety inspections on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis to ensure compliance with EHS regulations and internal policies.
  • Respond to incidents throughout the facility for immediate reporting and investigation of EHS-related events.
  • Assist with accident, near miss, and first-aid investigations to identify root causes and develop corrective actions.
  • Assist with the preparation, implementation, and sustainability of EHS programs, policies, and initiatives.
  • Proactively develop and administer programs to reduce work-related injuries and environmental defects.
  • Develop and provide EHS training to employees as needed.
  • Analyze EHS data and communicate with plant supervision on improvement ideas and risk reduction activities.
  • Flow down EHS information to site personnel.
  • Sponsor and provide guidance to the site's Safety Committee.
  • Champion permitting and regulatory compliance efforts for new processes and equipment installations.
  • Interact with Federal, State, and Local EHS regulatory agencies as required.
  • Coordinate with consulting firms regarding program changes and regulatory compliance issues.
  • Administer the facility's Waste Management Program with an emphasis on waste reduction and recycling activities.
  • Ensure compliance regarding hazardous chemicals and substances and related regulations.
  • Implement emergency response plans and procedures and function as the primary or alternate Emergency Coordinator as assigned.
  • Maintain familiarity with technical safety standards and regulations, such as OSHA 29CFR1910, NFPA 70E, SWPPP, SPCC, and Ohio EPA.
  • Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) to meet various requirements.
  • Lead by example, following safety rules and regulations, and report unsafe working conditions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of experience in the Environmental Health and Safety field.
  • Four years of experience in manufacturing.
  • High School Diploma/GED and an Associate degree or equivalent in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a relevant technical discipline, or two additional years of manufacturing experience.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
