About The Position

The EHS3 Manager at Avantor will lead and support Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs at the chemical manufacturing site in Phillipsburg, NJ. This role emphasizes regulatory compliance, program development, and employee safety, aiming to achieve world-class standards in EHS performance. The manager will oversee EHS professionals, coordinate performance management, and drive initiatives aligned with corporate EHS objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related technical discipline.
  • 6+ years of experience in EHS or related fields.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience.
  • Experience in chemical manufacturing is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in Process Safety Management (PSM).
  • Working knowledge of industrial hygiene analysis and best practices.
  • Strong computer application skills, particularly in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of operational and technical issues related to EHS requirements.
  • CSP certification is a nice to have.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and technical expertise in EHS program administration and support.
  • Develop and implement a long-term EHS plan aligned with corporate sustainability goals.
  • Oversee site environmental performance and implement strategies for sustainability.
  • Establish a plant-wide safety culture through safety systems, policies, and training programs.
  • Maintain knowledge of EHS laws and standards, taking appropriate actions as needed.
  • Implement and maintain EHS software systems for compliance tracking and reporting.
  • Develop medical and industrial hygiene policies to support incident management.
  • Supervise EHS consultants and contractors to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Lead safety assessments and monitor the resolution of findings.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations to manage loss prevention issues.
