EKG Technician, Full-Time Rotate

About the position

The EKG Technician at UChicago Medicine plays a crucial role in the Heart Station Adult Department, responsible for performing various cardiac monitoring procedures including EKGs, Holter monitors, and exercise stress tests. This position requires interaction with patients and physicians, ensuring accurate data transmission and maintaining the flow of operations within the heart station.

Responsibilities

• Perform EKGs, Holter monitors, exercise stress EKGs, pacemaker telephone telemetry monitoring, pacemaker programming, tilt table testing, and event monitors.
• Ensure proper ordering of all EKGs and monitoring in Epic.
• Transmit all EKGs by modem to Muse and ensure proper downloading of Holter/event monitoring.
• Distribute tracings and data of all procedures to physicians for interpretation.
• Edit EKG reports into the Muse computerized system and Holter/event monitoring in Life Watch.
• Keep a log of all procedures on a daily basis and supply an administrative assistant with statistics at the end of each month.
• Prepare appropriate charge slips for each procedure performed and give them to the secretary for billing within six calendar days.
• Assist in pediatric cardiology outpatient clinic as needed.
• Make sure the flow of patients runs smoothly and assist physicians with medical and clerical necessities.
• Keep track of inventory and order supplies for the heart station.
• Keep policies and procedures for heart station up to date.
• Perform other duties assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of EKG and two years' experience required.
• Phlebotomy experience required.
• Proven interpersonal skills to interact with a diverse population and varying ages of customers.
