About the position

The ELA Teacher at Campus High School is responsible for educating high school students in English Language Arts, fostering their development into mature and responsible individuals. The role involves creating a conducive learning environment, planning and implementing instructional strategies, and assessing student progress to meet educational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in designated locations and times.
  • Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning appropriate to students' maturity and interests.
  • Prepares for classes and shows written evidence of preparation upon request.
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Guides the learning process toward achieving curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with the needs of students.
  • Implements the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals.
  • Assesses student accomplishments regularly and provides progress reports as required.
  • Confers with district specialists regarding possible learning disabilities of students.
  • Takes necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintains accurate records as required by law and district policy.
  • Assists administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
  • Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and maintains order in a fair manner.
  • Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside instructional hours.
  • Plans and supervises assignments for teacher aides and volunteers.
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Attends staff meetings and serves on committees as required.
  • Works with designated team to meet student needs.
  • Demonstrates effective human relations and communication skills.
  • Complies with safety practices and district regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with appropriate Kansas License.
