About the position

The Full Time Substitute Teacher position at St. Joseph School District is designed to ensure that students continue their education effectively in the absence of their regular classroom teacher. The role involves maintaining classroom routines, teaching lessons as planned, and overseeing student behavior, all while adhering to the school's policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Attend work in a regular, reliable and punctual manner.
• Telework when requested by the District.
• Report to the building principal or school secretary upon arrival at the school building.
• Review plans and schedules with the principal, department head, team leader, or building secretary.
• Maintain established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which assigned.
• Teach the lesson as planned by the classroom teacher.
• Consult with the building principal, department head, or team leader before initiating any teaching or other procedures not specified by the absent classroom teacher.
• Oversee pupil behavior in the class and during lunch and recess periods.
• Report in writing on the day's activities at the conclusion of each teaching day.
• Follow all policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject.

Requirements

• Minimum of 36 college credit hours.
• Possess a substitute or teaching certificate or completion of the 20-hour Frontline Course.
• No vocational or theological credit hours can be accepted.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous experience as a teacher or substitute teacher.
