About the position

The Full Time Substitute Teacher plays a crucial role in maintaining the educational process in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. This position is responsible for ensuring that students continue to receive quality instruction and support, following the established routines and procedures of the school. The substitute teacher will report to the building principal and is expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner while fulfilling their duties.

Responsibilities

• Attend work in a regular, reliable and punctual manner.
• Telework when requested by the District.
• Report to the building principal or school secretary upon arrival at the school building.
• Review plans and schedules with the principal, department head, team leader, or building secretary.
• Maintain established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which assigned.
• Teach the lesson as planned by the classroom teacher.
• Consult with appropriate personnel before initiating any teaching or other procedures not specified by the absent classroom teacher.
• Oversee pupil behavior in the class and during lunch and recess periods.
• Report in writing on the day's activities at the conclusion of each teaching day.
• Follow all policies, rules, and procedures applicable to regular teachers.

Requirements

• Minimum of 36 college credit hours.
• Possess a substitute or teaching certificate or completion of the 20-hour Frontline Course.
• No vocational or theological credit hours accepted.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous experience as a teacher or substitute teacher.
