About the position

The Elder Law & Estate Planning Paralegal position at our busy South Jersey law firm is a full-time role designed for an experienced individual who is detail-oriented and capable of thriving in a fast-paced office environment. This position is crucial to our rapidly growing firm, which focuses on Elder Law and Estate Planning. The ideal candidate will be responsible for a wide variety of paralegal and legal assistant functions that support all legal areas of the firm, with a particular emphasis on assisting clients and managing documentation related to estate planning and elder law matters. In this role, you will engage in direct client contact, communicating effectively through mail, email, and telephone. You will also liaise with various external entities, including Medicaid offices, long-term care facilities, financial institutions, financial advisors, and insurance companies as necessary. A significant part of your responsibilities will involve forensic accounting to prepare for government benefit eligibility, ensuring that all documentation is accurate and compliant with legal standards. You will support the estate planning department by preparing documents and assisting in their execution, preparing petitions for probate of wills, and facilitating the appointment of fiduciaries. Additionally, you will be responsible for the preparation and review of accountings, receipts, and releases, as well as organizing estate and trust files and documents. Your role will also include creating and maintaining spreadsheets and databases related to trust and estate administration, ensuring that all information is up-to-date and easily accessible. This position requires a proactive problem solver who can anticipate and resolve issues quickly. You will also perform other duties as assigned, including scanning and copying documents and supporting various projects as needed. Responsibilities

  • Communicates with clients via mail, email, and telephone.

Requirements

  • 1 - 2 years' paralegal experience preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience in estates, trusts, and probate/estate administration preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in math and analytical skills.
  • Ability to produce accurate work product; excellent proofreading skills are essential.
  • Self-starter who is comfortable managing multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
