About the position

The Electric Distribution Designer Trainee position at M&S Engineering, LLC is an entry-level role designed for individuals who are organized, energetic, and self-motivated. The trainee will work under the mentorship of experienced Electric Distribution Designers to learn the processes involved in producing electric distribution field designs, estimating projects, and preparing construction prints using electronic design software. This position requires a commitment to quality and accuracy while adhering to client standards and specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Learn processes for the production of electric distribution field designs under the guidance of Electric Distribution Designers.
  • Assist in the staking of distribution facilities and project estimation.
  • Prepare construction prints using electronic design/estimation software in accordance with client standards.
  • Represent M&S Engineering and the client professionally during meetings with property owners and engineering firms.
  • Stay updated with changing technologies and design methodologies in Electric Distribution Design.
  • Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of work products.
  • Manage multiple projects with varying design requirements and priority shifts.
  • Work outdoors for extended hours in various climate conditions and travel as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Possess a current Texas Driver's License with an insurable driving record.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with MS Outlook and working knowledge of MS Excel and MS Word.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior Electric Distribution line design and/or construction experience.
  • Knowledge of Electric Distribution construction framing techniques and practices.
  • Experience with electronic design software and distribution line design calculation tools.
  • Familiarity with surveying equipment and gathering geospatial points.
  • Understanding of the NESC and its applications to electric distribution line design.
