About the position

The Electric Distribution Designer position at M&S Engineering, LLC involves producing electric distribution field designs, estimating projects, and preparing construction prints using electronic design and estimation software. The role requires a high level of organization, self-motivation, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The designer will engage with property owners and other engineering firms, ensuring compliance with client standards and specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Produce electric distribution field designs and staking of distribution facilities.
  • Estimate projects and prepare construction prints using electronic design/estimation software.
  • Represent the company professionally in meetings with property owners and other stakeholders.
  • Stay updated with changing technologies and design methodologies in Electric Distribution Design.
  • Mentor and train other staff members in design knowledge.
  • Design overhead and underground electric distribution facilities.
  • Perform distribution line design calculations for structure loading and other technical requirements.
  • Ensure quality, accuracy, and adherence to time constraints in work products.
  • Manage multiple projects and prioritize design iterations effectively.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Work outdoors in various climate conditions and travel for project needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Current Texas Driver's License with an insurable driving record.
  • Proficient in the design of overhead and underground electric distribution facilities.
  • Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to use MS Outlook, MS Excel, and MS Word proficiently.
  • Strong time management and multi-tasking skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate's degree or certificate in Electric Power Technology preferred.
  • Three years of prior experience with electric distribution design and estimation preferred.
  • Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of electrical distribution systems.
  • Knowledge of Electric Distribution construction framing techniques and best practices.
  • Experience with surveying equipment and geospatial data collection.
  • Familiarity with NESC and its applications to electric distribution line design.
