About the position

M&S Engineering, LLC is seeking a highly organized and self-motivated Electric Distribution Design Technician for their Beaumont, Texas office. This full-time position involves supporting the design and engineering of electric distribution projects across multiple states. The technician will be responsible for producing field designs, estimating projects, and preparing construction prints using electronic design software, all while adhering to client standards and specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Produce electric distribution field designs and staking of distribution facilities.
  • Prepare project estimations and construction prints using electronic design software.
  • Represent M&S Engineering and clients in meetings with property owners and other stakeholders.
  • Stay updated on technologies and methodologies related to Electric Distribution Design.
  • Ensure adherence to client standards for engineering plans.
  • Perform distribution line design calculations and material assemblies.
  • Secure easements and permits as needed for projects.
  • Take responsibility for the quality and accuracy of work products.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts for project scoping and planning.
  • Mentor and train other staff members in design knowledge.
  • Integrate safety and reliability practices into designs.
  • Work outdoors and manage physical tasks related to staking for Electric Distribution Design.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screening.
  • Current Texas Driver's License with an insurable driving record.
  • 1 year of experience in electric distribution design or estimation, or an Associate's degree in Electric Power Technology.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate's degree or certificate in Electric Power Technology.
  • Knowledge of Entergy's GDT system and experience with Maximo, MicroStation, and/or AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with the NESC and its applications to electric distribution line design.
  • Experience with surveying equipment and gathering geospatial points.
