About the position

The Retail Transaction Business Analyst at CenterPoint Energy plays a crucial role in supporting the company's e-commerce activities related to retail deregulation. This position involves analyzing and evaluating transactions to ensure compliance with market rules, performing daily reconciliations, and resolving discrepancies. The analyst will also engage in data manipulation, testing, and collaboration with various teams to enhance transaction processing and system requirements.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and evaluate transactions to comply with deregulation market rules.
• Perform daily reconciliation of transactions and track discrepancies.
• Write and manipulate SQL scripts to research transaction processing and failures.
• Work with IT and other business areas to re-submit failed transactions.
• Resolve issues regarding transactions on an ad-hoc basis.
• Participate in projects by documenting requirements and translating them into system specifications.
• Create test scenarios and scripts for end-to-end testing across multiple systems.
• Execute both manual and automated test scripts in different system environments.
• Participate in environment shake-outs, smoke testing, and data cleansing.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university or at least four years of work experience in the TX Retail Electric Market.
• Minimum of two years of experience in analyzing and manipulating data.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with automated testing software.
• Knowledge of the Texas deregulated market and ERCOT.
