Electric Meter Reader

About the position

The Meter Reader is responsible for accurately reading electric meters in assigned areas, ensuring customer service and payment collection while adhering to safety protocols. This entry-level position requires driving, customer interaction, and manual labor, with a focus on teamwork and integrity.

Responsibilities

• Driving and navigating the cities in your region (75% of the day).
• Entering residential and commercial properties to read meters and disconnect service.
• Interacting with customers to collect payment or read the electric meter.
• Collecting cash and other forms of payment for electric service, reconciling, reporting, and depositing drops daily.
• Working with energized electric equipment to disconnect service.
• Providing high-quality customer service with humility and pride.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Customer service experience (2+ years preferred).
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs multiple times during a work shift.
• Ability to climb, dig, and work in tight spaces and on uneven surfaces.
• Ability to understand and follow specific oral and written instructions.
• Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
• Possession of a valid State of Residence Driver's License within two weeks of employment.
• Ability to pass motor vehicle, criminal background check, and comply with drug-free workplace policy.
