About the position

As a Senior Sales Engineer at Ideal Magnet Solutions Inc., you will play a pivotal role in driving sales and fostering client relationships within the electric motor magnetic component sector. Your primary responsibility will be to understand the application of rare earth (RE) magnets in various related fields, staying abreast of the latest trends, technologies, and research developments in the RE magnet industry. You will be tasked with understanding customer needs and requirements, proposing tailored solutions, and working diligently to convert prospects into loyal clients. Meeting and exceeding annual sales goals will be a key performance indicator for your success in this role. In addition to client engagement, you will identify and engage prospective clients through various methods, including research, direct outreach, attending industry conferences, and leveraging recommendations. You will own the bidding process, which includes preparation, negotiation, and identifying upsell opportunities. Your proactive approach will be essential in defining and executing the appropriate sourcing and bidding procedures to meet client needs for new projects. Collaboration with Sales and Corporate teams will be crucial to ensure competitive pricing and alignment with operational budgets and priorities, ultimately ensuring timely delivery of installation schedules. Your strategic mindset will enable you to understand and uncover client production challenges through a consultative process, allowing you to recommend relevant solutions that address these challenges. You will define the corporate capabilities, strengths, and differentiators in relation to customer production needs, ensuring a results-oriented and customer-focused approach. Managing client relationships effectively will be vital for client retention, and you will be expected to provide regular reporting on sales goal status and emerging business opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Have understanding of RE magnets application in the related fields and stay updated on the latest trends, technologies, and research and development information in the RE magnet industry.
  • Understand customer needs and requirements, propose solutions that address these needs, and work to convert prospects into clients while meeting/exceeding annual sales goals.
  • Identify and engage prospective clients through research, direct approaches, attending conferences, recommendations, and other methods to target potential business.
  • Own the bidding process, including preparation, negotiation, and the ability to identify upsell potential; ensure successful end-to-end bid management process.
  • Apply a strategic mindset to understand and uncover client production challenges through a consultative process and recommend relevant solutions.
  • Manage client relationships to ensure client retention and provide regular reporting regarding sales goal status and business opportunities.

Requirements

  • Extensive B to B sales experience in related fields such as powertrain, motors, HVAC, acoustics components, and permanent magnet generators.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to understand contracts and integrate contract requirements with business operations.
  • Demonstrated success in acquiring new business from concept, sale, and through the project execution phase.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work on multiple projects that are deadline sensitive.
