About the position

Energy Management Corporation (EMC) is seeking an experienced Electric Motor Winder to join our Boise, Idaho service shop. This role involves rewinding various types of electro-mechanical equipment and ensuring the quality of work performed. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to work with a variety of tools and equipment in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Rewinds special and standard AC and DC electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Oversees the quality of work completed within their area.
  • Operates a variety of repair/testing equipment (e.g. winding machines, surge testers, core-loss tester, burnout/bake ovens, grinders).
  • Gathers data, cleans/repairs damaged iron, and prepares insulation.
  • Capable of rewinding A/C or DC machines including wound rotors and armatures.
  • Performs basic winding redesigns without instruction.
  • Strips and cuts wire, makes coils, operates the baking oven, and performs core testing.
  • Assists with dismantling and/or stripping of damaged or unserviceable electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Records time on jobs and documents critical information accurately.
  • Operates Fork Trucks (certified) and adheres to Quality System/Safety Policy.
  • Observes all safety procedures and uses proper protective gear.
  • Maintains a neat and clean work area.
  • Ensures all completed work meets Energy Management Corporation's Quality System requirements.
  • Capable of teaching less experienced personnel to become proficient winders.

Requirements

  • High school diploma and two years of experience as an apprentice winder under a class 'B' winder.
  • An additional five years of experience working under a class 'A' winder is recommended.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to foster good employee/employer relations.
  • Intermediate mechanical aptitude and hand-eye coordination.
  • Basic understanding of motor components and electrical theory.
  • Ability to operate dial indicators, calipers, micrometers, and surge/megger testers.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs and perform a range of physical labor.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with electrical schematics.
  • Certification in operating Fork Trucks.
