About the position

The Electric Power Controller position at the US Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command involves monitoring and controlling wind turbines, analyzing equipment malfunctions, and maintaining various power generation equipment. The role requires hands-on troubleshooting and repair of diesel and gasoline engines, as well as managing emergency situations within the power plant and field response teams.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and control wind turbines using controller software.
• Analyze equipment malfunctions through visual and auditory inspection or test equipment.
• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair diesel and gasoline engines.
• Remove, dismantle, inspect, repair, and install generators, motors, and exciters.
• Take command of emergency situations and direct actions in the power plant and field.

Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
• Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
• Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance.
• Must have a valid United States driver's license.
• Must qualify for and maintain a government license for all equipment in accordance with Navy P300 licensing regulation.
• Must successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with operating various electrical power generating equipment.
• Ability to perform trade mathematics for load calculations.
• Experience in maintaining generators, transformers, and associated equipment.
