The Electric System Operator Trainee I position at the City of Springfield, Illinois, is designed for individuals seeking to receive on-the-job training in the Electric Operations Division. The role involves learning various operational duties, including filling in for Trouble Clerks, updating operational maps, and handling customer complaints. The trainee will gain exposure to field inspections and will be trained for advancement to Operator Trainee II, with responsibilities that include dispatching crews and maintaining outage records.
Responsibilities
- Receive on-the-job training to perform duties of the Operator Trainee I position.
- Fill in for Trouble Clerks and Service Clerks as needed.
- Update operation maps and field construction drawings through field inspections.
- Receive customer complaints and dispatch crews to correct problems.
- Maintain records of outages and assist in field inspections for Operations.
- Train in the coordination of information dissemination for Operations personnel.
- Learn to identify conductor sizes, transformer requirements, phase balancing, and circuit inspections.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Valid Class D Driver's License is required.
- Must pass cognitive and personality profile assessment prior to appointment.
