About the position

The Utility Worker-GC position at PG&E is an entry-level role within the Electric Operations department, responsible for supporting various construction and maintenance tasks related to electric service delivery. This role involves working in diverse environments, including remote locations and elevated heights, while adhering to safety standards and procedures. The position requires physical labor and the operation of hand and power tools, with a focus on teamwork and compliance with company protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload equipment, material, and job site debris while maintaining housekeeping according to safety standards.
  • Dig trenches and holes in an ergonomically safe manner.
  • Perform construction work in the field under various weather conditions throughout the service territory.
  • Use and maintain various hand and power tools and equipment.
  • Follow the direction of journey line workers and/or supervisors at all times.
  • Read and comply with all required company standards and procedures.
  • Work in a team environment and ensure safety at all times.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must possess a High School diploma or GED.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class C California Driver's License (or higher) by Day 1 of hire.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class A California Driver's License Permit within 3 months of hire.
  • Ability to work in all types of weather extremes.
  • Ability to drive safely in all weather and road conditions.
  • Ability to work extended hours, nights, weekends, and holidays, and various work schedules.
  • Ability to travel and transfer to a new headquarters upon request throughout the PG&E service territory.
  • Ability to work in remote locations with possible exposure to wildlife and environmental hazards.
  • Must be able to maneuver on steep and/or uneven terrain.
  • Ability to work around high voltage and large mechanical equipment.
  • Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds over various terrains.
