About the position

As a Demand Planner for Service Parts at Rivian, you will play a crucial role in developing and managing part-level forecasts for your assigned commodities. Your primary objective will be to support optimal inventory levels at Rivian's Distribution Centers while ensuring that customer and partner needs are met effectively. This position requires a proactive approach to forecasting, where you will take ownership of your specific forecast refresh, manage master data, and analyze consumption data. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with various teams including Material Planning, Service Engineering, Reliability, and New Product Introduction (NPI) to create a comprehensive demand plan. In this role, you will be responsible for executing the overall global demand forecast for your parts, which is essential for enabling service and achieving the company's objectives. You will collaborate with sales, supply chain, global distribution centers, engineering, and other partners to understand the drivers behind demand forecasts. Your efforts will focus on driving key performance indicator (KPI) improvements, such as reducing forecast error and bias, enhancing customer service, and minimizing excess or obsolete inventory. This will enable predictive performance and effective financial planning. You will also review historical consumption data and trends, prepare forecast data, and develop statistical forecast models to evaluate forecast results. Your analytical skills will be vital in increasing accuracy by removing bias from forecasts. Throughout the month, you will monitor performance against the forecast, identifying key shifts and participating in monthly demand planning performance reviews to prevent excess or obsolete materials. Additionally, you will maintain and leverage forecast and consumption analytics to drive collaborative inventory and risk reviews with partners, ultimately aiming to improve customer service for your parts. Innovation is encouraged in this role, and you will be expected to seek out new strategies and present them to continuously improve your forecasts and the overall demand planning process. This position reports to the Manager of Demand Planning, and you will be an integral part of a team that is dedicated to driving Rivian's mission of creating emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the overall global demand forecast for your parts to enable Service and overall company objectives
  • Collaborate with sales, supply chain, global distribution centers, engineering, and other partners to understand demand forecast drivers
  • Drive key KPI improvement activities (reducing forecast error and bias), improving customer service, reducing excess/obsolete inventory, to enable predictive performance and financial planning
  • Review historical consumption data, trends, prepare forecast data, develop statistical forecast models and evaluate forecast results to increase accuracy by removing bias
  • Monitor performance vs the forecast throughout the month identifying key shifts
  • Participate in monthly demand planning performance reviews to prevent excess/obsolete materials
  • Maintain and leverage forecast and consumption analytics to drive collaborative inventory and risk reviews with partners to meet customer service improvements on your parts
  • Seek out new innovations and present new strategies to continuously improve your forecasts and the overall demand planning process

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience in demand planning/supply planning
  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline
  • A resilient collaborator, with willingness to drive change
  • Analytical skills with a foundational understanding of demand planning modeling, and overall supply chain operational process that may impact your demand planning model inputs
  • Experience forecasting within an ERP (SAP preferred)
  • Proven data analysis experience with the ability to provide quick turn analysis using advanced Excel
  • Process design experience, with proven ability to understand, document, and transform complex processes
  • Ability to communicate using telephone, zoom, and/or email
  • Ability to sit/stand for 8-12 hours per day
  • Ability to view, read, and interpret documents
  • Ability to perform all duties in an office environment that may contain ambient noise and temperature fluctuations
