About the position

The EV Infrastructure Engineer, also known as The Charge Architect, is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and optimization of electric vehicle (EV) charging networks. This role focuses on creating resilient and efficient infrastructure that supports sustainable electric mobility, working closely with urban planners, electrical engineers, and sustainability experts to ensure the accessibility and reliability of charging solutions for communities, cities, and highways.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, placement, and installation of EV charging stations, including Level 2 and DC fast-charging systems.
  • Work on projects that integrate EV charging systems with the power grid, addressing challenges like load balancing, peak demand, and energy storage.
  • Perform site assessments to evaluate optimal locations for EV charging infrastructure, considering factors like accessibility, energy demand, and environmental impact.
  • Design and implement smart charging solutions that manage charging times and loads efficiently, optimizing for both user convenience and grid stability.
  • Ensure that all charging stations comply with safety protocols, regulatory standards, and industry certifications (e.g., NEC, UL).
  • Work with urban planners, municipalities, and private sector partners to expand charging networks and support EV adoption.
  • Keep up with advancements in EV charging technology, such as wireless charging, ultra-fast charging, and smart grid integration.

Requirements

  • Strong experience in designing and implementing EV charging stations, including knowledge of Level 2 and DC fast-charging systems.
  • Expertise in power systems, load management, and grid integration for EV charging infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in conducting site assessments, feasibility studies, and project planning for EV infrastructure deployment.
  • Knowledge of smart charging, vehicle-to-grid (V2G), and load management technologies.
  • Familiarity with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and industry certifications for EV infrastructure.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in EV infrastructure engineering or a similar role.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certifications in EV infrastructure, power systems, or grid integration are a plus.
  • Experience working with utilities, grid operators, or smart grid technologies is highly desirable.
