About the position

The Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer - Senior position at Jacobs involves leading the design of water and wastewater facilities, focusing on both conventional and design-build projects. This role is critical in delivering innovative solutions to complex technical challenges in the water market, with projects ranging from $1M to over $250M. The position offers opportunities for mentoring and collaboration within a hybrid work environment, supporting both local and distributed teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preliminary and detailed design of water and wastewater facilities.
  • Ensure quality control for project design in the office and around the region.
  • Understand electrical codes, standards, and legislation.
  • Evaluate and select electrical systems and equipment such as Switchgear and Motor Control Centers.
  • Evaluate and select process control instruments like pressure, flow, and level meters.
  • Develop construction documents, including drawings and specifications.
  • Provide construction services support and startup assistance.
  • Mentor staff including engineers and designers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Minimum of 10 years of electrical or instrumentation engineering and project delivery experience in water, wastewater, and/or industrial treatment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in producing construction documents.
  • Ability to coordinate between multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with municipal wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and conveyance systems.
  • Field experience with electrical testing equipment and arc-flash awareness.
  • Experience working with remote domestic and international staff.
  • Ability to serve as the technical liaison between the project owner and the design team.
