About the position

The Electrical Engineer position at Chemours involves providing engineering support for electrical, controls, and power distribution systems within the plant. The role focuses on ensuring the reliability and safety of electrical systems, troubleshooting issues, and leading projects that enhance operational efficiency. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to implement improvements and ensure compliance with safety standards, contributing to the company's mission of creating a better world through chemistry.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support for electrical, controls, and power distribution systems to the plant operations.
  • Offer technical expertise in low and medium voltage electrical distribution systems, including motor control centers and switchgear.
  • Support small and large cost and capital projects with engineering insights.
  • Communicate and collaborate with internal and external engineers for technical guidance.
  • Review and provide technical guidance for electrical procedures and safe work practices.
  • Participate in Process Safety Management (PSM) activities, including Process Hazard Analysis (PHAs) and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs).
  • Troubleshoot electrical, controls, and instrument problems in operating areas.
  • Lead Root Cause Failure Analyses (RCFAs) related to electrical and control systems.
  • Assist maintenance and operations with troubleshooting, equipment evaluations, and technical recommendations for repairs and upgrades.
  • Develop knowledge in specific equipment to become a subject matter expert for maintenance inspection and work procedures.
  • Initiate management of change documents to improve safety, quality, environmental impact, or cost.
  • Prepare and audit scopes of work, estimates, schedules, and equipment specifications.
  • Review preventive maintenance plans for optimal performance and frequency.
  • Evaluate vendor proposals and designs for functionality, cost, and timing.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 1-5 years of similar work experience.
  • Strong values on safety awareness and execution.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize self and others to obtain cooperation for work solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Initiative to make decisions within delegated guidelines.
  • Organizational skills to maintain confidentiality.
  • Experience in plant electrical, PLC, and instrument system design, maintenance, and operation.
  • Familiarity with motors, motor control centers, variable frequency drives, and soft-starters.
  • Knowledge of flow, pressure, temperature, level, pH, density, and conductivity measurements.
  • Experience with PLCs, preferably Rockwell.
  • Prior experience working with field personnel in maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
  • Excellent organizational competencies, including strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage short duration deadlines, emergency situations, and multiple priorities.

Nice-to-haves

  • SAP knowledge preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industry standards (NEC, ISA, etc.).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of PLC systems (Rockwell preferred).
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Experience in manufacturing and/or mining.
  • Working knowledge of industry codes and best practices/programs in engineered solutions.
