About the position

An Electrical and Instrumentation Project Engineer is needed for a multinational pharmaceutical and biotechnology company, whose areas of business include pharmaceuticals, consumer healthcare products, agricultural chemicals, seeds, and biotechnology products in the Luling, LA area. This role is crucial in managing electrical and instrumentation engineering projects, which encompass design, budgeting, and system troubleshooting. The engineer will be responsible for ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. The position requires a proactive approach to project management, including effective communication with project managers, clients, and company management to keep all stakeholders informed about project status and any issues that may arise. The engineer will lead the design process from conceptual stages to detailed design packages, focusing on electrical engineering principles. This includes performing electrical load calculations, transformer and cable sizing, and ensuring proper short-circuit protection. In addition to design responsibilities, the engineer will also take on field engineering duties, assist project managers, and supervise subcontractors. This role demands strong organizational skills and the ability to develop methods that streamline the cost and performance of electrical projects, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple tasks ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Communicate project status and issues with project managers, clients, and company management.
  • Lead the design process from conceptual to detailed design packages with a focus on electrical engineering.
  • Perform electrical load calculations, transformer and cable sizing, and short-circuit protection.
  • Perform field engineer, assistant project manager, or assistant construction manager duties.
  • Supervise subcontractors and review daily work schedules and budgets.
  • Develop methods to streamline cost and performance of electrical projects.

Requirements

  • BS or higher in Electrical Engineering.
  • Advanced training in electrical power system design and distribution.
  • 10+ years of electrical engineering experience.
  • 5+ years in chemical, refinery, or electric utility operations preferred.
  • Self-starter with leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
