About the position

The Electrical and Instrumentation Specialist is responsible for providing technical expertise in the maintenance of process control, electrical, HVAC, and instrumentation equipment. This role focuses on enhancing equipment reliability, developing repair procedures, and promoting a culture of reliability within the maintenance team. The specialist will work closely with the maintenance manager and plant engineer to implement best practices and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise on maintenance excellence for process control, electrical, HVAC, and instrumentation equipment.
  • Recommend improvements to operations and maintenance leadership regarding equipment maintenance strategies.
  • Work with maintenance technicians to enhance their skills in electrical maintenance.
  • Support capital projects by reviewing equipment selection and layout for maintainability and reliability goals.
  • Participate in PSM activities as defined by site manuals and practices.
  • Promote consistency by standardizing procedures and equipment operations.
  • Serve as a member of the site reliability improvement team to install a reliability culture.
  • Participate in mechanical shutdown teams to provide input on equipment test and inspection procedures.
  • Read and understand manuals, schematics, and P&IDs for effective troubleshooting and repair.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting, repair, installation, and documentation of maintenance calibrations.
  • Measure, fabricate, and install conduit, piping, and tubing, and perform electrical wiring.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of relevant industry experience in the field.
  • Prior plant maintenance experience.
  • Advanced training and relevant skills in electrical and instrumentation.
  • Strong leadership capabilities and ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and interact with a diverse workforce.

Nice-to-haves

  • Journeyman Electrical License
  • Degree in Automation
