About the position

Nestlé USA is seeking an Electrical and Automation (E&A) Specialist to join our new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Glendale, Arizona. This facility is designed with sustainability in mind, featuring innovative water recycling processes, zero waste to landfill, and fully recyclable product packaging. As an E&A Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our electrical and automation systems meet Nestlé's high standards while also contributing to our commitment to reducing environmental impact. This position is ideal for individuals who are not only technically skilled but also possess leadership qualities, as you will be expected to supervise vendor work and collaborate with cross-functional teams. In this role, you will be responsible for project management, including reviewing User Requirement Specifications (URS) and making necessary recommendations. You will support training for operators and maintenance teams, develop timelines, and ensure that all milestones are met. Your design responsibilities will include reviewing and building electrical designs using AutoCAD, creating Bill of Materials (BOM), and ensuring compliance with Nestlé standards in control design and PLC programming. You will also be involved in HMI/SCADA development, working with vendors to create intuitive controls that enhance operational efficiency. The position requires a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation, as you will be tasked with streamlining engineering processes and developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). You will provide support throughout all phases of factory operations, from concept and research to commissioning and testing. This is a hands-on role that offers the opportunity to develop both technical and leadership skills in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Review User Requirement Specification (URS) and make necessary Electrical and Automation recommendations based on Nestlé standards.
  • Support training for operators and maintenance teams according to Nestlé guidelines.
  • Develop necessary timeline and schedule to keep track of milestones, parts ordered, and vendor commitments.
  • Review/Build electrical design using AUTOCAD according to Nestlé standards, including necessary electrical calculations and SISTEMA documentation.
  • Review/Build Pneumatic Designs needed for projects.
  • Review/Build control design and MCC designs with vendors, ensuring compliance with Nestlé standards.
  • Review/Create the BOM using electrical and Pneumatic schematics and keep track of materials delivery.
  • Review/Create PLC tagging using Nestlé S88 document standards.
  • Review/Design PLC program in Rockwell Studio 5000 and Siemens TIA, ensuring adherence to NEAT toolbox 7 standards.
  • Create/Review Network Architecture and communication exchange signals between PLCs.
  • Create checklist for FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and SAT (Site Acceptance Test) according to Nestlé guidelines.
  • Review/Build HMI screens using Wonderware Software and NEAT 7.0 guidelines.
  • Create a simulation plan to review various functionalities of SCADA like Recipe Management, Product Routes, CIP Routes, etc.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to develop action plans to facilitate E&A objectives for the factory.
  • Recommend and drive actions to build smart and cohesive systems for seamless integration with other systems.
  • Streamline engineering processes by creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Provide support to process control and process monitoring equipment software design, commissioning, testing, and corrective action.
  • Support all phases of the factory including concept and research; estimating cost; component selection; network design; panel design; layout; purchasing; device troubleshooting; PLC programming; HMI tagging; FAT support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline with 3 plus years' experience in Electrical, Controls/Automation, or Mechatronics Engineering related roles OR Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline with 7 plus years' experience in Electrical, Controls/Automation, or Mechatronics Engineering related roles.
  • Proper expertise and knowledge to integrate power switch gear, automation components, transformers, and branch circuit protection with motors, valves, filters, and sensors into a high-quality system.
  • AutoCAD proficiency.
  • Expertise in drafting electrical schematics with power and control systems.
  • Experience programming and troubleshooting PLC ladder logic, structured text, and function blocks using Studio 5000.
  • Experience in SCADA and HMI programming, with Wonderware software preferred.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office products.
  • Knowledge of industry standards like OSHA and UL requirements.
  • Experience in Food or Beverage industry is preferred.
