About the position

The Electrical Cable and Harness Designer will be responsible for the design, development, and delivery of electrical cable and harness engineering solutions for military ground vehicle applications. This role involves taking ownership of the entire cable and harness development process, from requirements documentation to product delivery, and requires collaboration with various engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Define and develop electrical interconnects through coordination with system, subsystem, and unit engineers.
  • Create interconnect diagrams, schematics, and assembly drawings that meet MIL-STD and industry standards.
  • Participate in product teams to ensure interface requirements are understood and met.
  • Incorporate system requirements into harness/cable designs.
  • Prepare input for project Design Reviews and support design reviews (PDR and CDR).
  • Present harness subsystem design, architecture, and implementation plans at design team meetings.
  • Establish harness/cable routing and segmentation.
  • Perform power and voltage drop analysis, capacitance studies, and RF transmission line analysis.
  • Conduct EMI and EMC shielding analysis, cable bundle sizing, and thermal/environmental resistance assessments.
  • Prepare and release specifications, manufacturing assembly drawings, and special tooling methods.
  • Support manufacturing, quality control, and testing processes.
  • Assist the integration team in resolving cabling and harness issues.
  • Develop procedures and reports to support the Engineering Team and Field Service Representatives.
  • Support Test Incident Report (TIR) and Failure Analysis and Corrective Action Report (FACAR) resolution.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline from an accredited university.
  • 5-10 years of engineering experience in cable and harness development in the automotive or aerospace field.
  • Experience in electrical cable and harness design, assembly, and systems integration and testing.
  • Familiarity with system Technical Data Package Development (TDP).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced inter-disciplinary environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of military and commercial standards for connectors, wires, and contacts for ground vehicles and aerospace applications.
  • Proficient in harness design software tools such as Visio, Creo, or Zuken, and PLM systems like Windchill.
