About the position

We are seeking a highly skilled Sr. Electrical CAD (ECAD) Designer/Altium Admin to join our team at a leading global Medical Device Manufacturer located in Arden Hills, MN. This hybrid position requires in-office presence for two days per month, allowing for flexibility in work arrangements. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in Altium and Altium 365 software, along with expertise in data management processes related to ECAD. This role is pivotal in managing the migration of acquired ECAD data into our systems and administering the Altium 365 platform. In this position, you will be responsible for assessing the quality of acquired ECAD data and providing estimates for remediation resources. You will actively participate in Kaizen sessions to enhance the migration and integration processes, collaborating with cross-functional groups including R&D, Quality, Supplier Engineering, and Process Engineering. Your role will also involve developing and documenting ECAD migration strategies, reviewing and updating existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs), and training acquired design teams on newly established processes for ECAD and data management. Additionally, you will define the Altium 365 database, manage user accounts and permissions, and configure workspaces to facilitate collaboration. Providing training and support to users on Altium 365 features will be a key aspect of your responsibilities, along with troubleshooting ECAD-related issues. You will also be tasked with developing and implementing ECAD standards and best practices, collaborating with engineering teams to optimize workflows, and maintaining comprehensive documentation for ECAD standards and libraries. This role may require domestic and international travel, estimated at 0-30%.

Responsibilities

  • Assess acquired ECAD Data for quality level and provide resource/remediation estimates.
  • Attend and contribute to Kaizen Sessions for holistic Migration/Integration process and schedule.
  • Develop and Document ECAD Migration Strategies with Cross Functional Groups (R&D, Quality, Supplier Engineering, Process Engineering, etc.) including Acquired Stakeholders.
  • Reviewing/Updating existing SOPs/WIs for acquisition remediation process.
  • Train Acquired Design teams on newly developed processes for ECAD and data management.
  • Definition of Altium 365 database including workflows, attributes, and general process flow.
  • Managing user accounts, permissions, and settings within the Altium 365 platform.
  • Setting up and configuring Altium 365 workspaces to facilitate collaboration among team members.
  • Providing training and support to users on how to effectively utilize Altium 365 features.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for ECAD-related issues.
  • Develop and implement ECAD standards, procedures, and best practices AND train and support users on ECAD software.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize ECAD workflows and design processes.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of ECAD training programs.
  • Maintain documentation for ECAD standards, libraries, and user guides.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace or a related field.
  • 5-7 years experience in Altium.
  • 3-5 years experience in Altium 365.
  • Strong technical proficiency in ECAD Data management, with a deep understanding of quality ECAD Data practices.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to develop solutions for complex ECAD data remediation challenges.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to adapt to the target audience.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment.
