JLL is currently seeking a dynamic individual for the role of Electrical Commissioning Engineer to provide reliable, timely, efficient support to our Commissioning Team. The position entails working with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization, and the individual will require the independent judgment to plan, prioritize, and organize a diverse workload in a fast-paced environment. This successful candidate will be detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and a team player attitude. You will be responsible for carrying out the following duties specific to your position: Have fluency with all commissioning processes and deliverables covered in ASHRAE, CSA, and LEED commissioning requirements. Have fluency in electrical equipment/systems inspections, testing, and associated commissioning activities with an understanding of mechanical, HVAC, fire protection, and control systems. Monitor, review, and execute all facets of Commissioning related projects by providing exceptional technical and field activities. Liaise with team members, outside consultants, and contractors to assist cross-functional teams on various projects. The candidate will protect JLL's contractual position and ensure our work meets contracted requirements. Understanding and capability of how to develop strong Commissioning Plans and Commissioning Specifications. Carry out field-based commissioning activities, including site visits, developing Start-up and test forms, witnessing and approving contractor execution, and developing Functional Test scripts; managing, directing, and witnessing execution. Perform Commissioning Design Drawing & Specification Reviews, as well as Submittal (shop drawing) reviews. Have fluency/understanding with how to use calibrated testing equipment used in the commissioning process (flow hoods, anemometers, pitot tubes, IR cameras, Power Quality Meters, various meters, etc.). Develop, track, and resolve issues using an Issues Log. Understanding of how to develop and execute seasonal/performance tests. Ability to develop and compile project documentation into site/project-specific Systems Manuals. Ability to develop/review/evaluate training programs for installed equipment and systems. The candidate will support, front to back, all of the project documentation requirements. The intent is to be accountable for the preparation, review, and issuance of the same, and though these tasks may be delegated, there may/will be the need to personally prepare them to meet the required timelines.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • A recognized university technical degree or equivalent, preferably in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in the use of electrical testing meters and equipment, including portable power quality meters (PQM), multi-meters, ground test equipment, cable meggering, Hi-Pot testing, and breaker injection testing.
  • Ability to read and interpret Short Circuit Coordination Studies and Arc-Flash Studies.
  • Experience in testing Utility transformers, UPS systems, generators, and associated automated paralleling switchgear, ATSs and STSs, Fuel Oil systems, PDUs, EPMS, and other electrical power generation and distribution systems.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant electrical engineering and/or field-testing experience, with at least 3 years in providing building commissioning services in mission-critical facilities.
  • Strong data management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Project, Word, and Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and organize multiple project schedule inputs/performance data into a master schedule platform and deliver project/program status reports.

Nice-to-haves

  • BCxP/CxA/CCP designation is considered an asset.
  • Professional Engineer/PE or PMP designation is considered an asset.
  • Any (or combination) of CEM/CBCP/CPMP designations is considered an asset.
  • LEED AP designation is considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of Facility Grid, CxAlloy, and other Cx software platforms.
  • Master Electrician License is not required but an asset.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally when needed.
  • Ability to use mechanical testing meters and equipment and analyze and report on test results including portable data loggers, air flow meters, TAB reports, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience in testing mechanical and HVAC&R systems including chilled water plants, AHUs/RTUs/DOAS units, boilers, thermal storage systems, building management & automation systems, fire protection systems, plumbing equipment and systems, and other commercial and industrial heating and cooling systems.
  • Experience working as an operating engineer in a data center or other mission-critical facility is an asset.
