About the position

The Electrical Commissioning Engineer at Actalent is responsible for the technical documentation and commissioning of hydroelectric turbine-generator units. This role involves reviewing designs, preparing installation manuals, and ensuring compliance with technical specifications while coordinating with various engineering teams and clients during the commissioning phase.

Responsibilities

  • Review technical contract specifications and identify design requirements.
  • Develop concepts for solutions and systems related to hydroelectric turbine-generator units.
  • Supervise designers and participate in the preparation of engineering documents such as block diagrams and electrical diagrams.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams, suppliers, and customers for equipment system integration.
  • Produce technical specifications for electrical equipment and review shop drawings.
  • Carry out engineering instructions for work or inspections at the plant.
  • Monitor and update the budget and engineering schedule with project teams.
  • Organize and participate in design reviews.
  • Check and approve technical documentation produced under supervision.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of design tools and rules.
  • Identify root causes and participate in problem-solving.
  • Prepare technical documentation for submission.
  • Review vendor engineering documentation for compliance with specifications.
  • Resolve technical electrical installation issues during assembly.
  • Direct the commissioning of units on-site and coordinate daily meetings.
  • Contribute to quality and excellence in installation and commissioning execution.
  • Propose design changes to improve safety, quality, and reduce installation time and costs.
  • Enhance the Field Services team's technical excellence through support and training.
  • Support the project execution team on installation and commissioning matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or electronics engineering.
  • Experience in turbine-generator instrumentation or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience in general instrumentation and control system design.
  • Knowledge of hydroelectric or other power generation fields.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic power and control systems.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve technical problems and design cost-effective solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical CAD software.
  • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project).
  • Good interpersonal skills, collaboration, and teamwork.
