The Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Surface Surveillance Systems Support Team is seeking an experienced Electrical/Computer Engineer to provide engineering support for critical systems such as Airport Surface Detection Equipment (ASDE-3 and ASDE-X), Runway Status Lights (RWSL), and Airport Surface Surveillance Capability (ASSC). These systems are essential for ensuring safety and efficiency at major airports across the United States. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing these systems, which are integral to airport operations. In this position, you will be responsible for providing engineering support services to resolve hardware and software issues that arise at field sites. You will also support the technology refresh of legacy system hardware and software, ensuring that our systems remain up-to-date and effective. Your role will involve assisting with unit, regression, and integration testing, as well as writing requirements for new hardware and evaluating its performance. You will contribute to the full lifecycle support of the ASDE-X system, which includes design, build, test, implementation, and sustainment phases. Additionally, you will provide guidance and support to new engineers and technicians, fostering a collaborative environment within the team. The position may require occasional travel to airports across the nation to provide on-site engineering support, making it essential for candidates to be flexible and willing to travel as needed.
