About the position

The Electrical / Controls Associate/Engineer I at Renewal by Andersen is responsible for providing electrical and controls engineering expertise to support business growth projects. This role emphasizes innovation and operational excellence, requiring the candidate to engage in various engineering tasks, including designing control systems and collaborating with teams to ensure effective solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide and/or coordinate detailed quotes/estimates for controls work
  • Write machinery control functional specifications
  • Design the power and control wiring of industrial automation equipment
  • Work with vendors to assure specifications and code requirements are followed
  • Document electrical design changes
  • Conduct machine operational testing during Factory Acceptance Testing and Site Acceptance Testing
  • Manage projects to deliver safe, effective, sustainable, and reliable solutions
  • Perform PLC programming and operator screen development
  • Engage in participative team problem solving and root cause analysis
  • Support maintenance and operations team with advanced controls troubleshooting
  • Assess current vs future electrical technology capabilities
  • Read and interpret electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical drawings
  • Coach, mentor, and train less experienced staff on technical topics
  • Participate in on-call, 24/7 controls system support on a rotational basis

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field
  • Familiarity with PLCs and drive/motor systems
  • Familiarity with Ethernet/Ethernet IP networking
  • Knowledge of basic electrical components such as sensors, motors, indicators, circuit protection, etc.
  • Ability to read and create electrical schematics
  • Knowledge or experience with AutoCAD
  • Test basic safety and control systems using relays, PLC/HMI programming, VFDs and/or servo motion
  • Effective communication skills (written, verbal, listening, and presentation)
  • Strong problem-solving aptitude and data-driven decision-making skills
  • Comfortable with hands-on work
  • Interest in working in a manufacturing setting
  • Proficient with common electrical testing tools
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Self-motivated and able to learn quickly
