About the position

The Electrical/Controls Engineer I/II/III position at Andersen Corporation involves leading projects related to mechanical improvements and troubleshooting within a dynamic team environment. The role focuses on driving continuous improvement initiatives, implementing innovative solutions, and shaping the strategic direction of the electrical engineering team. The engineer will work in a climate-controlled facility, contributing to the implementation of new technologies and ensuring effective project management in electrical and controls systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects and initiatives related to mechanical improvements, obsolescence, innovation, and troubleshooting.
  • Deliver safe, effective, sustainable, and reliable solutions through project management skills.
  • Prioritize, organize, and communicate controls and electrical projects and initiatives.
  • Develop PLC programming and operator screens.
  • Manage electrical projects, ensuring specifications and code requirements are followed.
  • Engage in participative team problem solving and root cause analysis with various stakeholders.
  • Support maintenance and operations teams with advanced controls troubleshooting.
  • Assess current vs future electrical technology capabilities.
  • Read and interpret electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical drawings for equipment.
  • Coach, mentor, and train developing technicians and interns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Technology, or a similar field preferred.
  • 3-10 years of engineering experience.
  • Strong knowledge of PLCs (Allen Bradley, ControlLogix, RSLogix preferred), HMIs, drives, and control systems.
  • Strong knowledge of servo motion control (Kinetix preferred); design, troubleshooting, and program requirements.
  • Experience with AutoCAD skills preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; highly motivated, organized, and self-disciplined.
  • Strong mechanical background and comfortable with hands-on troubleshooting.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing facility setting and with equipment.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with AutoCAD skills preferred.
