About the position

Waupaca Foundry, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer Intern for the Summer of 2025. This internship is designed for students actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree in an electrical-related field. The intern will play a crucial role in supporting the electrical staff in maintaining the state-of-the-art facility. The position requires the intern to learn and utilize their education to troubleshoot and assist in various electrical tasks. The intern will be expected to complete safety training and demonstrate compliance with departmental safety policies and guidelines. Participation in Waupaca Foundry's 6-S Program, which focuses on housekeeping and organization, is also a key responsibility. The intern will learn the company's process control documents and Departmental Work Instructions (DWIs) to understand the operational standards. They will assist electricians in making electrical adjustments to machinery and software to ensure efficient operations. The role includes working with the electrical staff to support conduit installation, wiring, troubleshooting, machine repair, panel building, and other assigned duties. Additionally, the intern will be involved in maintaining electrical schematics and updating PLC/Robot programs as necessary. Responsibilities

  • Successfully complete safety training and demonstrate ability to comply with departmental safety policy and guidelines
  • Participate in WF's 6-S Program (housekeeping)
  • Learn company process control documents and Departmental Work Instructions (DWIs)
  • Learn/assist electricians to make electrical adjustments to machinery and software to ensure efficient operations
  • Work with electrical staff to support conduit, wiring, troubleshooting, machine repair, panel building and other duties as assigned
  • Electrical schematic and PLC/Robot program maintenance updates

Requirements

  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical related field
  • Willingness to work flexible schedule
  • Solid work history
  • Good oral communications
  • Be enrolled in post-high school education for the Fall 2025 semester
  • Minimum of 1 completed year in related field (preferred)
  • Be considered a full time student (12 credits or more)
  • Be 18 years or older
  • Understanding and following instructions

  • Ability to adapt to a flexible work schedule, while working without supervision
