The Electrical & Controls Engineer position at our Goodyear, Arizona facility is a pivotal role responsible for creating a strategic vision for automation, controls, and electrical safety programs. This role involves providing capital project leadership and automation expertise for the specification, installation, start-up, and operation of plant equipment. As the site subject matter expert on automation, controls, and electrical systems, the engineer will support the execution of the plant's annual capital plan, aligning with the company's overall strategic objectives. The focus will be on enhancing safety, product quality, total delivered cost, low-cost supply chain systems, and plant efficiency. Additionally, the engineer will support maintenance training and advanced troubleshooting of control systems, playing a key service role in supporting all departments within the facility from the Engineering Department. In partnership with the Engineering Manager, the Electrical & Controls Engineer will create and execute a strategic vision for automation and control systems, taking the initiative to develop new approaches and solutions that align with company strategy and plant objectives. This includes defining engineering standards and serving as the site subject matter expert on manufacturing automation equipment and control systems, supporting both new equipment installations and the optimization of existing equipment. The engineer will also be responsible for developing and managing capital projects, providing daily technical support to Plant Operations, and supporting advanced troubleshooting and maintenance of the plant's computer-driven control systems. The role requires the ability to identify and implement training and resources needed for maintenance personnel, as well as the capability to identify complex capital improvement project opportunities that align with the plant's overall operating strategy. The engineer must effectively build and manage cross-functional relationships to address issues and opportunities, ensuring successful project delivery within specifications, budget, and timeline. Continuous improvement tools and concepts will be applied to each project to deliver optimal results and maximum positive impact on plant performance, while also overcoming employee resistance to change by effectively communicating the business rationale for key projects.
