About the position

The Electrical Controls Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing electrical equipment and automation programming for industrial systems. This role requires a strong background in electrical design, automation integration, and engineering documentation practices. The ideal candidate will collaborate with sales and engineering teams to meet customer requirements while ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop electrical and automation designs to meet customer, company, and code requirements.
  • Produce CAD wiring schematics and control panel layouts.
  • Produce PLC programs and HMI screens.
  • Select hardware and software to meet customer requirements and project budget.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Engineering team on development projects.
  • Produce all necessary product documentation including: Bill of Material, Manufacturing/assembly documentation, Flow Charts, Risk Assessments, Specification Data Sheets, etc.
  • Research and design for compliance with UL, NFPA, ISO, CE, and other required standards.
  • Provide a documented history of the development decisions on each project.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and participating in professional societies.
  • Perform other duties as deemed priority and appropriate by the Company and management.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent related field.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in electrical engineering of custom machinery.
  • Experience in automation programming of PLC & HMI and automated control systems.
  • Experience in automation integration supporting manufacturing and testing commission machinery.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or other CAD package for preparing wiring schematics and panel layouts.
  • Proficiency in programming Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC, HMI, and automated control systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge and understanding of modern manufacturing techniques including National Electrical Code, UL, CE and standards, integration of automation.
  • Solid attention to detail and drive to complete projects in a timely manner.
  • Effective interaction and collaboration with resources, vendors, partners, and manufacturing.
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Effective time management working on multiple projects concurrently.
