About the position

The Electrical Controls Engineer will be responsible for overseeing projects from inception to completion, focusing on the design and implementation of electrical control systems for custom manufacturing equipment. This role involves collaboration with drafting and design teams, programming PLC and HMI systems, and troubleshooting electrical controls in the field. The position requires a strong technical background and the ability to work on-site in Darien, IL.

Responsibilities

  • Following assigned projects from kick-off to start-up completion.
  • Specifying components and design architecture of electrical control systems per industry standard practices.
  • Supervising the drafting and design team with the development of schematics and layouts.
  • Supervising the panel fabrication of projects in the onsite fabrication facility.
  • Development of PLC and HMI programming.
  • VFD and Servo Motion programming.
  • Testing and Simulation of Systems.
  • Commissioning and start-up of industrial equipment in the field.
  • Electrical controls field troubleshooting and problem-solving.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent technical degree.
  • 4 - 10 years of experience in Electrical Schematic Design, PLC programming, HMI Programming, VFD Setup and parametrization, IO setup and checkout, and PID Control setup and tuning.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with programming and control of high-speed motion systems.
  • PLC-based safety system development and programming.
  • Advanced VFD control (Coordination/Registration).
  • Cascading/Nested PID control setup and tuning.
  • Process and instrumentation diagram development experience.
  • UL 508A and SCCR certification.
  • Desire to mentor or supervise junior engineers.
