About the position

The Electrical Controls Supervisor plays a crucial role in supporting operational and maintenance objectives to achieve top quartile mill status. This position involves troubleshooting electrical, instrumental, and process malfunctions, as well as diagnosing and repairing various control systems and equipment. The successful candidate will also be responsible for training mill personnel and improving the skill level of the electrical team while ensuring safety and reliability in all operations.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the electrical team to maintain and improve PLC and automation control systems.
  • Train mill personnel to enhance their skill levels in line with existing systems.
  • Engage effectively with mill-level personnel to understand their needs and provide necessary support.
  • Manage and develop the electrical team to ensure high performance.
  • Utilize excellent troubleshooting skills for drives, PLC issues, and electrical problems.
  • Maintain and care for various optimization systems, both software and hardware.
  • Respond to emergency situations with a proactive mindset.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and assist local management in implementation.
  • Assist in project planning and startups to meet or exceed ramp expectations.

Requirements

  • Previous industrial experience in a relevant field.
  • Familiarity with Allen Bradley products, VFD Drives, Soft Starters, and HMIs.
  • Experience with PLC 5 and Control Logix PLC platforms.
  • Knowledge of communication network protocols: Ethernet, DeviceNet, ControlNet.
  • Proficiency in computer and Microsoft Office software packages.
  • Experience working with high and low voltages.
  • Demonstrated supervisory abilities.
  • Ability to manage small projects and day-to-day work planning.
  • Experience following electrical schematics.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with a proven safe work record.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5 years or more experience with controls and automation.
  • Minimum of 1-year experience in manufacturing.
