About the position

ANDRITZ Hydropower North America is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Designer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in electrical design for industrial plants, electrical panels, and their integration, primarily using AutoCAD Electrical. Experience in hydroelectric projects is an asset. This role is crucial in developing and executing comprehensive electrical designs for industrial plants, ensuring optimal integration with mechanical and pneumatic systems to prevent interference. The Electrical Designer will be responsible for drawing electrical schematics, panel layouts, cable routing diagrams, and piping routes using AutoCAD Electrical. In addition to design responsibilities, the Electrical Designer will design and integrate electrical panels, incorporating both analog and digital signals, ensuring proper functionality and compatibility with overall electrical systems. The role also involves generating comprehensive reports, including Bill of Materials (BOMs), technical documentation, and conducting electrical design reviews to identify potential issues. Effective management of AutoCAD Electrical libraries is essential, ensuring efficient component selection and symbol utilization. The designer will utilize AutoCAD Electrical's automatic wire numbering and tagging features to streamline the design process and reduce errors. Collaboration with engineers and other stakeholders is key to ensuring seamless project execution and effective communication with international colleagues. Staying up-to-date with the latest electrical design technologies, software advancements, and industry standards, including NFPA 70, is also a critical aspect of this position.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in electrical design for industrial plants, preferably involving AutoCAD Electrical and experience in designing and integrating electrical panels.
  • Proven expertise in designing electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with NFPA 70 and other applicable electrical standards.
  • Knowledge of other electrical design software such as Revit MEP or EPLAN is a plus.
  • Experience in preparing electrical specifications, technical documentation, and Bill of Materials (BOMs).
  • Ability to conduct electrical design reviews and identify potential issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Fluency in English (B2 level or higher) is required for effective communication with international colleagues.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in hydroelectric projects is an asset.
  • Familiarity with other electrical design software such as Revit MEP or EPLAN.
