About the position

The Electrical Design Engineer EIT/PE position involves designing lighting and power distribution systems for complex commercial and industrial buildings. The role focuses on sustainable design practices and requires a strong understanding of energy use and conservation measures. The ideal candidate will work within a multidisciplinary engineering firm that emphasizes energy efficiency and green design.

Responsibilities

• Design building power distribution systems, building interior and exterior lighting systems, building fire detection systems, and building telephone and data distribution systems.
• Provide technical clarification of designs and monitor electrical construction progress.
• Review shop drawings and conduct field investigations to prepare reports for electrical issues.
• Perform cost estimating and equipment selection.
• Conduct arc flash and energy analysis.
• Communicate with architects, contractors, owners, other designers, and external consultants.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
• 5+ years of electrical engineering & design experience with an Engineering Consulting firm
• EIT or PE License desired
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel
• Good writing and general communication skills
