About the position

The Electrical Design Engineer I position within the Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit is a critical role that focuses on the development of advanced electronic systems for defense applications. This position requires a strong commitment to innovation, integrity, and collaboration within cross-functional teams. The successful candidate will apply innovative design techniques to create cutting-edge electronic systems that meet the needs of our customers' missions. In this role, you will be responsible for the system and detailed circuit development, modeling, and simulation for tactical RF, Lidar, and antenna products. You will design both digital and analog hardware utilizing FPGAs, microprocessors, ADCs/DACs, power supplies, and control circuitry. Detailed analyses will be a key part of your responsibilities, including power dissipation and consumption, stability, reliability, and risk mitigation. You will also interface with Systems Engineers and Mil-Std documentation to define derived functional and performance requirements, ensuring that all designs meet the necessary specifications. Collaboration with Parts Engineers will be essential to select and approve EEE components that meet program requirements. You will work closely with PWB packaging and layout engineers to ensure that designs are manufacturable and meet quality standards. Additionally, you will define and implement test procedures and provide support during environmental and qualification testing. Maintaining a regular and predictable work schedule while establishing effective working relationships within the department and across the company will be crucial for success in this role. This position requires regular in-person engagement, working on-site five days a week, and may involve travel and local commutes between company campuses and other locations. The work environment includes offices, laboratories, production floors, and cleanrooms, with occasional access to production work centers requiring protective equipment. Overall, this role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-impact technologies in a dynamic and collaborative environment, while also providing avenues for professional growth and development.
