About the position

We are seeking a full-time Electrical Design Engineer Intern in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing electronic circuits, equipment, systems, and/or products under supervision. This internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of electrical engineering, particularly in the design and testing of electronic components. You will work closely with experienced engineers and have the chance to contribute to real projects that impact our products and services. As an intern, you will engage in various essential functions including designing, debugging, and testing digital, analog, Radio Frequency (RF), and/or Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASIC). You will follow test procedures to verify product compliance with all applicable regulations and quality guidelines. Additionally, you will prepare test data and reports to determine if the proposed design meets functional and performance specifications. This role will also require you to learn and use software tools and test equipment to formulate and test electronic designs, ensuring that all documentation is completed in the required formats. You will interface with Test Engineers and factory personnel on the testing, production, and manufacturing of products. Furthermore, you will perform cost/performance tradeoff analysis of different circuit options and investigate the usage of the latest components and technologies. This internship is designed to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the electrical design process and the opportunity to apply your academic knowledge in a practical setting.

Responsibilities

  • Design, debug, and test digital, analog, Radio Frequency (RF), and/or Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASIC)
  • Follow test procedures to verify product compliance to all applicable regulations and quality guidelines
  • Prepare test data and reports to determine if the proposed design meets functional and performance specifications
  • Learn and use software tools and test equipment to formulate and test electronic designs and complete documentation of a design in the required formats
  • Interface with Test Engineers and factory personnel on the testing, production and manufacturing of products
  • Perform cost/performance tradeoff analysis of different circuit options and investigate the usage of the latest components and technologies

Requirements

  • Completed coursework in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or related field
  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
  • Knowledge and/or experience with test equipment and software tools for electronics design, testing and documentation

Nice-to-haves

  • Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
  • Previous work or internship experience with circuit design for consumer or aviation products
