About the position

BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Electrical Design Engineer Intern to join our team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to assist in the design and development of electronic control units (ECUs) specifically tailored for the automotive market. These ECUs play a crucial role in controlling various automotive systems, including combustion engines, transmissions, drivetrains, battery monitors, and electric motors for both commercial and passenger vehicles. In this role, you will work closely with the engineering design team, contributing to controller development activities. Your responsibilities will include analyzing electronic circuits to ensure compliance with the controller's requirements, testing controllers to verify their parameters, collecting and analyzing data, and supporting the validation lab with test setups. This hands-on experience will not only enhance your technical skills but also provide you with valuable insights into the automotive industry and the importance of electronic control systems in modern vehicles. Responsibilities

  • Assist the engineering design team with controller development activities.
  • Analyze electronic circuits to verify compliance with the controller's requirements.
  • Test the controller to ensure its parameters comply with the analysis.
  • Collect and analyze data related to controller performance.
  • Support the validation lab with test setups.

Requirements

  • Student pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or B average upon initial hire date.
  • Some experience working with basic lab equipment such as digital multi-meters and oscilloscopes.
  • Experience with MS Office applications.
  • Some experience with CAD tools such as Mentor Graphics or OrCAD.
  • Some experience with analysis tools such as Mathcad and/or Spice.
  • Desire to work in a lab environment.
